Off the Vegas Strip
With the winter season coming to an end, it’s time to start thinking about where to go for your next warm vacation. Consider Las Vegas if you’ve not place in mind, aside from being the Entertainment Capital of the World, the city is also home to many hidden gems for you to explore.
Studio B Buffet
Known for its world-class buffets Las Vegas, there are many popular options right on the Strip. Or may be you want to go locals like to eat like, drive just a little outside of the city to the town of Henderson, and discover the Studio B Buffet. While a lesser-known buffet, it offers an array of great tasting food at a considerably lower price than most found on the Las Vegas Strip. Select a designated driver, as unlike the other buffets Studio B’s price actually includes unlimited beer and wine!
And while everyone talks about the great eateries in Las Vegas’ Chinatown, truth is Chinese food is available everywhere across the city, attracting attention are the small number of Filipino restaurants, in particular Cafe de Cebu.
Red Rock Canyon
After a big meal at a lunch buffet, it’s best to walk around to burn off some of the excess calories. While walking on the Las Vegas Strip might be the easy go-to choice for many, a much more scenic and less congested option is a hike, just a half hour drive off of the strip at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. It’s a great place to go to take a break from all the dazzling lights of the city.

Thanks for the guide. I’d really like to visit Vegas one day. Yet, there are some destination I like more in summer. Vegas is just a little too hot in August and September.
I agree Vegas can be hot in summer, but it really is a great place to soak up that heat before winter. Without humidity I’ve found the desert much easier to experience – I walk for five days in the Sahara with a learning that plenty of water is the key to enjoying a desert experience.
Wow, five days in the Sahara? That must have been an amazing experience! If I may ask, why did you do that?
Why I did it was to experience the people and culture of Tunisia. It was a camel trek with three Tuareg guides, camping in tents most nights and under camel blankets on one night only to be forced back into the tent after being pelted by a sand storm. I walked rather than ride as the opportunity to capture the experience was too unique for just words. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
It sounds just amazing. I’d love to do anything like that as well. That’s something I really dream of doing one day. A real culture experience that beats every city trip!
