Bassegoda Park – Roots of Inspiration

Vacationing in the Mountains of Costa Brava is a radically different idea for most but for owner, manager and inventor, Esteve Guerra Serra it seems to be an outlet for his creativity, “I wanted create a place where families and couples a quieter experience.”

“The campground is tucked along the border of Parc d’Espais d’Interés Natural del’Alta Gorrotxa,” Esteve continues “this natural space attracts a more active visitor coming to mountain bike, hike, ride horses, fish, drive quads, or other physical activities.” It is an information point along the 840 kilometre Gran Recorrido (GR)11 hiking trail and home each July a troop of Boy Scouts from across Germany.

The deck from the bungalow offered spectacular views of the sun rising over mountains before a morning jog or watching the glow of the evening sun. The minimum stay here is four nights during the high season so a family of four in July and August will pay around 431 euros for staying one week in their own tent and up to 980 euros to stay in one of the new bungalows.

The quiet comfort of Bassegoda Park campground isn’t as isolated as one might think. Easily accessible by car guests can several beaches and other interests such as the medieval town of Sant Llorenç de La Muga or a visit to Figueres for inspiration by Salvador Dali.

Amid the plethora accommodations to stay in consider one of these bungalows as cost affective alternative to hotels and resorts you’ll be surprised at the quality and services available. If you see a sunburnt red headed young man call out to him ‘el Guir’, if its Ward he’ll wave, if not you’ll at least sound like a local.
